A few weeks ago out at the Livingston Farmers’ Market it was muscadine week and my friend Jesse Houston who is Chef de Cuisine at the excellent Parlor Market came up with an absolutely delicious bourbon cocktail made with muscadine juice.  What a great fall cocktail!  Here it is:

1 3/4 ounce of good Bourbon

1 ounce of Cooper Farms Muscadine juice

1 tsp of lemon juice

1tsp of honey

dash of bitters

sprig of fresh thyme (optional)

Combine the whiskey, honey and thyme and lightly muddle.  Fill glass with ice and the remaining ingredients and stir.  Or shake and pour into a martini glass.  Garnish with a lemon twist.  All of these ingredients are available at Colony Wine Market.
