Folks, I continue to be amazed at the sheer volume of great wine values coming from Argentina.  Now, you should know that I am an unabashed patriot and I believe some of the best Pinot Noir, Cab Sauv, Merlot, and Chardonnay in the world today comes from the good ole USA.  However, the price to quality ratio of the wines coming from Argentina right now is uncomparable.  Particularly the Bordeaux varietals of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon and the blends of the same from a large number of producers I find to be very well balanced wines.  They tend to exhibit intense dark berry flavors and aromas, great complexity and are solidly, yet gently framed by malic and tannic acids.  That means they are very drinkable now and will cellar well for eight to ten years. Since the day we opened nearly two years ago we have had the best selection of Argentine wines you can find anywhere in the country!  We have told everyone about them and right now Argentine Malbec is our hottest red wine varietal.  You will also find some interesting Torrontes and Tempranillo offerings from this region.  If you haven’t tasted Argentina yet, stop in and ask Shawn, Richie or myself to show you the light.  It will be hard to buy big reds from anywhere else after you taste these!
